A Liturgy For A New Season

We come before you, Lord, at the start of a new season.

So many unknowns are before us.

We have so many questions, hopes, and fears that remain unanswered. We entrust each one to Your hands.

It is tempting, God, to start imagining all the things that could go wrong prematurely. We grasp at control by ruminating on all the worst case scenarios.

Help us release our fear and uncertainty, and learn to trust You in each present moment.

There is so much to come; so many potential challenges:

Hardships that may rattle us.

Problems we won’t know how to solve.

Hopes dashed, hearts broken.

And also:

Friends we haven’t met yet.

Joy and excitement over learning and growing.

Hopes met, and love discovered.

Jesus, grant us the ability to lean on Your goodness, trust in Your design, depend on Your promises, and hold tight to Your presence.

May we yet rejoice in the Lord, in spite of and because of all that is yet to come.

Holy Spirit, we do not know much. Guide us daily as we practice discernment and lead others. Keep us in tune with ourselves and Your Spirit. Help us live Spirit-filled and Spirit-led lives.

Empower us to walk with confidence and strength.

May we know who we are and who you created us to be.

When doubts over our calling creep in, guard us against the lies of the enemy.

Father, in seasons of stress or overwhelm, we sometimes make poor choices.

Protect us against our own temptations or former patterns of sin.

Keep the enemy from creating any strongholds and release us from past mistakes and shame.

May we experience your undeserved mercy and forgiveness in a way that transforms us.

God, we know so very little. We control almost nothing. We are often nervous, scared, or insecure about these truths.

Show us Your power and sovereignty in this season.

May we live rightly, walking in Your ways, trusting in Your kindness, and abiding in Your love.

May we surrender our lives to You, the Author and Perfecter of all things.
